GOC 6 DIVISION NIGERIAN ARMY HOSTS TOTAL ENERGIES ON FAREWELL COURTESY VISIT, ASSURES ON OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander Joint Task Force (South-South) Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army to sustaining a secure environment for oil and gas operations in the Niger Delta region .
Major General Emekah stated this when a delegation from TotalEnergies Joint Venture, led by the Deputy Managing Director, Joint Venture Asset, Mr Olivier Cassassoles, paid him a farewell visit at Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt.

In a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Nigerian Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Umar Adam, Major General Emekah appreciated TotalEnergies for the cordial relationship enjoyed throughout his tenure, noting that the partnership had continued to strengthen operational effectiveness and civil-military cooperation.
According to the GOC, he resolved to build on the achievements of his predecessors when he took over, through sustained operational engagements across the Division’s Area of Responsibility.

The statement revealed that the improved security environment and increase in crude oil production reflected the collective efforts of security agencies and stakeholders, assuring that the Division would continue to support every legitimate initiative aimed at protecting critical national assets.
The GOC thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them that the existing partnership between the Nigerian Army and TotalEnergies would be sustained by the incoming General Officer Commanding.
He also encouraged the company to continue supporting troops with operational equipment required to enhance the protection of critical national assets.

Earlier, the Deputy Managing Director, Joint Venture Asset, TotalEnergies, Mr. Olivier Cassassoles, commended the leadership of the GOC and troops of 6 Division for providing a secure operating environment that has enabled uninterrupted oil and gas production.
Mr. Casassoles noted that the prevailing peace had also supported the successful execution of strategic projects, including the Ubeta Gas Development Project.

In a remarks according to the statement, the Executive Director Joint Venture Asset, TotalEnergies, Mr. Obi Imemba, described Major General Emekah as an accessible, proactive and collaborative leader whose leadership strengthened the partnership between the Nigerian Army and TotalEnergies.
Mr. Imemba who disclosed that the effective implementation of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) earned the Nigerian affiliate global recognition within the TotalEnergies Group, also appreciated the GOC for supporting the upgrade of the Division Medical Centre and other operational engagements.
Also speaking, the General Manager, Corporate Security, TotalEnergies, Mr. Iliyasu Bagna, commended Major General Emekah for his exemplary leadership and professionalism, noting that the operational stability witnessed during his tenure contributed significantly to increased oil production and enhanced stakeholders’ confidence.
He further lauded the commitment of troops of 6 Division in safeguarding critical national infrastructure across the Niger Delta.
The statement noted that the “visit underscored the longstanding partnership between the Nigerian Army and TotalEnergies in promoting security, protecting critical national infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for economic activities in the Niger Delta region.”
