NDDC TASKS WOMEN ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO ALLEVIATE POVERTY

Women have been enjoined to venture into entrepreneurship to become self reliant.

Director, Culture and Women Affairs, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Mrs. Ahunna Imoni
who gave the advice during Twenty Twenty-Six NDDC women’s day celebration in Port Harcourt Rivers State said the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku directed that the celebration would be an avenue to train and build capacity among women of Niger Delta.

While speaking on the Theme, which was Rights, Justice, Action for women and girls, Mrs. Imoni maintained that women should have access to education and Justice.

Mrs. Imoni admonished women to help lift other women that are not financially stable to engage in business or enjoy human rights.

The Director of Culture and Women Affairs who assured that NDDC was intentional about training women in various skills, told the participants that the commission was ready to support them to become successful in their businesses.

She noted that the commission sponsored some women to attend International women conference in USA to gain international exposure.

Speaking on non-oil export Opportunities, Head of Department, Trade Information Services, Nigeria Export Promotion Council, NEPC, South South Regional Office, Mrs. Chinelo Ikuroye encouraged women to explore export businesses, saying that the Council trains people who are willing to learn export businesses.

Mrs. Okoli who advised women to register with the council to access their training programmes, noted that it was beneficial to register at the state of residence.

She noted the ratio of women registration in export market was very poor when compared to men.

While encouraging women to export, she noted that it promotes foreign earnings and economic growth.

On her part, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC Representative, Mrs. Adaolisa Ekemezie said that Proper documentation was necessary for products, while standard Operating Procedures, SOPs must be clearly defined.

Mrs. Ekemezie warned against fake products and substandard production.
